DALLAS, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- T-NETIX, Inc. (Nasdaq:
officially notified by the State of Alabama that it has been awarded a three- year contract to provide InterLATA, intrastate and interstate long distance service to all inmate and public payphones in state locations. The contract, which includes service for 26,500 inmates in 32 correctional facilities, also provides for two, one-year renewals at the option of the State. According to a state representative, "the contract was competitively bid in accordance with Alabama state law. 134 vendors were invited to participate and five bids were submitted. T-NETIX was awarded the contract because it satisfied all conditions of the invitation to bid and offered the state the most favorable financial conditions."
T-NETIX estimates that the Alabama
contract will represent about
$36 million in gross revenues during its first three-year term, and an
additional $12 million for each one-year renewal.
For the past three years, T-NETIX
has acted as an equipment provider for this account in fifteen of its facilities,
delivering phone service to the
State through its partners with our P-III platform. With the new contract, T-NETIX will become the prime contractor to the State and will directly provide these public and inmate long distance services.
As part of the award, T-NETIX will upgrade the existing P-III platform to its Digital ComBridge(TM) product. Digital ComBridge(TM) is T-NETIX's state- of-the-art inmate calling platform that provides a complete telephony monitoring and control system utilizing the latest in T-NETIX patented technology. Two significant feature upgrades for the Alabama DOC include three-way call detection and digital recording technologies.
